A group of seven delegates from the University of Novi Sad (UNS), Serbia, visited PSU from January 22 - February 2, 2011. Professor Dr. Pavle Sekerus, Vice-Rector for International Relations of UNS and leader of Serbian delegation, noted the fact that our institutions are both comprehensive universities situated in multicultural areas. Associate Professor Dr. Chatchai Ratanachai, Vice President for Outreach and International Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Chusak Limsakul, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, and the deans of the faculties of Engineering and Science welcomed our guests.
PSU and UNS started the collaboration in 2002, and since then many international seminars and conferences have taken place, including several staff and student exchanges. Thanks to these exchange programs, one important area of collaboration is biology, since PSU students had the chance to explore the biodiversity of the temperate climate in Serbia and UNS students discovered and studied Thailand’s tropical biodiversity. A very successful collaboration was seen also in physics, mathematics, and the field of computer science.
Our guests expressed their wish to begin also collaborations in the area of medical physics with Songklanagarind Hospital and in tourism with Phuket campus. They had the chance to visit the faculties of Engineering, Science, and Liberal Arts in Hat Yai campus, as well as PSU Phuket campus.
