PSU had the honor to receive a visit from distinguished guests from Chiang Mai University, Thailand, Kunming Medical University, P.R. China, and Toho University, Japan, from November 9-12, 2010. The objective of their visit was to discuss the renewal of the MOU among four universities, namely, PSU, Chiang Mai University, Kunming Medical University, and Toho University. The renewal of the MOU between PSU and Toho University was also discussed on this occasion.
The welcome meeting took place on November 10, 2010, at the Faculty of Medicine of PSU in Hat Yai campus. After revising the two MOUs, the witnesses from each university signed them. PSU was represented by Associate Professor Dr. Chatchai Ratanachai, Vice President for Outreach and International Affairs, and Associate Professor Sumet Peeravut M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Chiang Mai University’s representative was Associate Professor Niwes Nantachit, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. For Kunming Medical University, Ms. Guo Haiyan, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Division, was the witness, and Dr. Hirofumi Takagi, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, represented Toho University.
Several activities are expected to be launch among the four universities in the near future. The main activity, a joint seminar titled “Biomedical Sciences for the Benefit of Mankind,” will be held in 2011 at PSU, Hat Yai campus. Some other activities discussed concern joint research, exchange of students, researchers and academic personnel, joint training programs, etc.
