PSU organized its first annual Thai Cultural Program, a three-week course that introduced Thailand’s culture and traditions to staff and students from PSU’s international partner universities in July 2014. The 26 participants from Brunei, P.R. China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including cooking Thai dishes, playing traditional Thai music, watching and discussing Thai movies, practicing traditional Thai medicine and learning Thai language.
Participants then put their knowledge to test and gained first-hand experience in diverse aspects of Thai life, by visiting both the tourist hot-spots (Phuket beaches, rafting in Satun, snorkeling in Trang), and rural communities (Tha Hin village project, Tang Kuan folklore).
The Thai Cultural Program was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ram Yamsaengsung, PSU Vice President for International Affairs, along with qualified instructors for the courses, and a dedicated team of PSU staff and students, ensuring an enjoyable and memorable experience for participants. Remarkable bonds and friendships formed between PSU students and participating international students, fostering a deep inter-cultural understanding and appreciation towards the respective countries of the participants. Such understanding creates a solid foundation for productive international cooperation in the greater ASEAN region, for generations to come.
PSU International Affairs Office would like to invite all interested to join us for the second Thai Cultural Program to be arranged during July – August 2015. The brochure and other details can be found on www.interaffairs.psu.ac.th or www.en.psu.ac.th.
