Health Care Service and Personal Accident Insurance for International Students

1. University Health and Accident Insurance

International students are required to have health and accident insurance from their own countries. However, once a student pays the tuition fee during registration, he/she obtains a standard University Health and Accident Insurance of 300 Baht a year (included in the tuition fee).

This insurance covers free treatment (not exceeding 10,000 Baht per year) at Songklanagarind (PSU) Hospital. This will only be effective for the period of time that one is registered.

Accident insurance coverage includes free treatment at any public hospital, but is limited to a maximum of 12,000 Baht for each accident.

At Songklanagarind Hospital, students are not required to pay in advance, but in any other hospital they must pay the fees and submit claims to the PSU Student Affairs Division to obtain reimbursement.

PSU health insurance covers the primary health care services, and does not cover the following medical care services:

  • plastic / cosmetic surgery,
  • private room fee,
  • special nursing service,
  • special and expensive medicines and medicines that are not listed in the  National Essential Drug List (these medicines, however, may be allowed with the consent of the physician),
  • doctor fees from evening clinics of private hospitals,
  • congenital diseases,
  • pregnancy care, prenatal care, abortion and baby delivery,
  • medical certificates not related to a sickness,
  • physical check-up, etc.
