Professor from North Dakota State University at PSU

PSU had the honor to receive Prof. Dr. Kalidas Shetty, Associate Vice President for Global Outreach from North Dakota State University (NDSU), USA, on April 17, 2013. The objective of his visit was to initiate collaboration between NDSU and PSU. Our distinguished guest was warmly welcome by the PSU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul and his team.

On this occasion, the MOU between the two universities and an agreement for students exchange were signed. Prof. Dr. Shetty said that in the near future it will be established the PSU-NDSU Center for Advanced Studies, which will greatly facilitate collaborative programs not only between our universities, but also among worldwide universities, which will be invited to join as partner institutions in this project. For this collaboration, the first step will be graduate exchanges as a sandwich double degree Ph.D. program, which will allow graduates to obtain two diplomas: one from PSU and one from NDSU. The PSU- NDSU Center for Advanced Studies will also help our universities to promote and strengthen our graduates programs, and allow students to easily obtain scholarships for studying abroad. Both universities hope that through this center, PSU will become the hub for Asian students, who wish to obtain the PSU-NDSU double degree, by registering in the related double degree programs at PSU.

Prof. Dr. Shetty said that NDSU is offering two scholarships to PSU graduates to study at their university for Doctoral level. One scholarship is offered in the area of agro-industry and the other in the area of engineering.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul also suggested initiating joint degrees collaborative programs as a young staff development project, which will allow our young staff to acquire their Ph.D. degree. Other possible cooperation may be the initiation of joint research in areas of common interest for both universities, such as research in rubber and Halal food.
